CDA Chairman, Alhaji Quamorudeen Alimi, made the appeal during the association’s annual general meeting and the unveiling of its 2026 community calendar held at the Baale’s Palace, Meiran.

He called for stronger cooperation to curb insecurity, stressing that government alone cannot tackle the challenge.

Highlighting the achievements of his administration, Alimi urged residents to maintain better environmental discipline and avoid building shop extensions that obstruct drainage, especially during the rainy season.

He listed the CDA’s accomplishments for the year, including the restoration of power through the replacement of a faulty transformer in partnership with Ikeja Electric, production of the community calendar, recognition of outstanding members through awards, and the formal installation of the community’s official Baale.

Alimi assured residents that once the rains subside, the CDA will rehabilitate potholes, improve drainage, strengthen security architecture, and entrench accountability in project execution.

CDA Secretary, Mr. Temitayo Abudu, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to deeper collaboration with the state government, civil society organisations, and the private sector to drive youth empowerment and development.

He disclosed that plans are underway to install solar-powered streetlights with CCTV cameras to enhance community security.

The Youth Leader, Mr. Olalekan Abudu, popularly known as Olori Ọdọ, commended youths for their active participation in meetings, community tasks, security operations, and sanitation exercises.

He appealed to the Lagos State Government for increased youth employment and greater inclusion in governance.

He added that in 2026, the youth wing will launch entrepreneurship programmes, mentorship schemes, and expand mobilization through environmental activities and digital platforms.

The Community Baale, Chief Taiwo Arilesola, praised the continued unity and progress in the CDA and commended Radio One for its consistent grassroots reportage, which he said encourages government responsiveness.

Speaking on the planned solar streetlight project, Pastor Fọlọrunsho Ojerinde described it as a welcome innovation that deserves collective support.

Thirty-one residents received award plaques for their financial and selfless contributions to the CDA’s development, including Pastor Ojerinde, at the event themed “Building a Stronger, United and Progressive Community.”
