Anambra, Gombe, Kwara Candidates Top 2025 UTME as JAMB Announces Highest Scorers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has unveiled the top-performing candidates in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with students from Anambra, Gombe, and Kwara States securing the highest scores.

During the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, the Registrar, Prof. Ish-aq Oloyede, announced that Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra State achieved the highest score of 375 out of 400.

Okeke, who applied to the University of Lagos (UNILAG), hopes to study Mechanical Engineering.

Following closely is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who scored 374.

He selected Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) as his first-choice institution, also to study Mechanical Engineering.

In third place is Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State, who earned a score of 373.

Like Okeke, he chose UNILAG for Mechanical Engineering.

All three top scorers are male and share the same academic interest — Mechanical Engineering — indicating a growing trend of excellence in the engineering field among young candidates.

JAMB’s announcement celebrates academic excellence and sets the tone for the 2025 admission cycle into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
