In commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day, union leaders in the aviation industry have expressed their appreciation for the significant contributions of women to the growth and development of the aviation ecosystem.
The theme of this year’s celebration, “Accelerate Action for Women’s Rights, Gender Equity, and Women Empowerment,” was highlighted by the Branch chairman of the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP),Comrade Patrick Afatakpa, as a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and endless possibilities that women bring to the world.
He noted that women are not only caregivers but also builders, leaders in homes, workplaces, communities, and especially in the aviation industry.
Comrade Afatakpa emphasized that women have consistently proven that they are capable of achieving great things, and their contributions have led to positive changes in the industry.
“Today, we do not just celebrate your achievements. We honor your resilience, the battles you fought quietly, the barriers you broke with dignity, the dreams you chased even when the world doubted you. You inspire us not because it has been easy, but because you have made the impossible seem achievable,” Afatakpa said.
The ANAP chairman assured women that they are highly valued and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to continue working alongside them to build a fairer, more inclusive, and more beautiful world.
National Woman Leader of ANAP, Mrs. Ogochukwu Ibegbunam reiterated that the theme of the day is more than a call to action; it is a call from the soul of every woman who dares to dream of a world where she is seen, heard, respected, and valued.
She stated that women have proven themselves in aviation and leadership, and in every walk of life, and that it is time for bold, courageous, and unstoppable action to achieve true gender equity and empowerment.
Comrade Ibegbunam urged all women to become champions for women’s rights, for true gender equity, and for real empowerment.
According to the ANAP’s woman leader, every woman deserves a seat at the table, a voice in decision-making, equal pay for equal work, and a future free of discrimination and fear.
