ANAP Conference Advocates Stronger Workers’ Rights, Better Industry Performance

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajearo, says, prioritizing the welfare of aviation workers plays a pivotal role in propelling the country’s economy forward.

Addressing the 2nd National Delegates conference of the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) in Kano, with theme: “Tackling Labour Challenges towards Improved Service Delivery and Better Welfare Packages for the Workers in the Aviation Industry”, comrade Ajaero emphasized that, workers welfare is paramount for the effective functioning of the industry, which in turn leads to improved service delivery.

The NLC president represented by his Deputy National President, Comrade Kabir Ado urged ANAP to stand firm in the defence of the rights of the workers, stressing the industry significant contribution to job creation and economic growth.

“The industry will not function effectively if the workers in the sector are not taken seriously”.

While paying homage to the founding fathers of labor in Nigeria, he urged ANAP to bolster its membership to enhance its effectiveness.

“Unions can not fight effectively to win if they are not strong, for unions to be strong, they need to organise their members in work places”.

Chairman of the occasion, Former Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Captain Rabiu Yadudu, harped on the importance of management recognizing workers as essential partners in organizational development and urged against taking their welfare for granted.

The outgone President General, ANAP Comrade Kabir Gusau in his opening remarks called for unity among the unions and urged them to continue to push for manpower development and the requisite equipment for better performance by the workers.

Highlights of the conference was the election of new executives under the leadership of the new President General, Comrade Alale Adebayo to run the affairs of the union for the next three.
