Annual Career Fair Empowers Nigerians with Business and Professional Skills

Nigerians seeking to grow their businesses and advance their careers have been encouraged to embrace innovation, integrity, and strategic planning as key drivers of success.

This call was made at the 2025 edition of the Business and Career Fair hosted by Ikoyi Baptist Church in Lagos with the theme “Maximize Your Ground.”

Now in its ninth year, the fair has become a major platform for professional development, entrepreneurship training, and networking opportunities.

It featured panel discussions, recruitment drives, and interactive sessions where experts shared practical insights on navigating today’s dynamic economic and workplace realities.

Senior Pastor Olusegun Adeleke said the programme reflects the church’s holistic approach to ministry, aimed at equipping members not just spiritually but also professionally and economically.

He noted that faith must be matched with knowledge, skills, and diligence for sustainable success.

Chairperson of the planning committee, Mrs. Ekhoe Ame-Ogie explained that the theme was inspired by Luke 12:16, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and maximizing God-given talents and opportunities.

She added that the fair is designed to “open doors for participants by connecting them with resources and mentors that can transform their professional and business pursuits.”

Key speakers at the event included Dr. Victor Afolabi, who highlighted integrity and consistency as cornerstones of lasting business success, and Mrs. Ifeoma Abdullahi who encouraged job seekers to build networks and pursue mentorship to thrive in a competitive market.

Leadership consultant and keynote speaker Niyi Adekunle, who also pastors The Helper’s House, Lagos, urged participants to combine faith with strategy, adaptability, and continuous learning to achieve sustainable growth in both business and career.

Participants described the event as inspiring and insightful, with many noting that the sessions provided actionable steps for achieving professional excellence and financial growth.

The annual Business and Career Fair continues to serve as a bridge between faith and practical development, reinforcing the government’s ongoing call for capacity-building initiatives that empower citizens to contribute meaningfully to national growth.
