Political leaders and residents across Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area and Ojokoro Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have commended His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeshoga Williams Adeyoola, Tomia I, the traditional ruler of Orile-Alagbado, for what they described as impactful and transformational leadership within his first year on the throne.
The commendations were made during activities marking the monarch’s one-year coronation anniversary, held at the Alagbado community.
Speaking at the event, the Member representing Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Benjamin Adeyemi Olabinjo, praised the Oba for driving development through strategic partnerships and constructive engagement with government at all levels.
In separate goodwill messages, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Chief Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa; the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Mr Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, popularly known as Zulu Authority; and the Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle Adio, also known as Sego, lauded the monarch for redefining traditional leadership through people-centred governance.
They particularly commended Oba Adeyoola’s commitment to youth development, sustained advocacy against drug abuse, promotion of women empowerment and emancipation, and his firm stance against all forms of abuse against women, describing his reign as progressive, inclusive and development-oriented.
The celebration attracted top political office holders, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women groups from Ifako-Ijaiye, Ojokoro and neighbouring communities.
The event featured cultural displays and musical performances, while prayers were offered for the monarch’s long life, continued wisdom and a peaceful, prosperous reign.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Mrs Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji; Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II, Mr Emmanuel Olotu; Mr Dayo Saka Fafunmi; Mr ‘Tunde Oyekunle; Mr Abdul Rasheed Makinde; Mr Mobolaji Sanusi; Dr Idris Salako; and Dr Adeleke Ipaye, among other APC leaders.
Also present were members of the Ojokoro Legislative Arm, traditional rulers including Ndigbo cap chiefs, CDC and CDA leaders, as well as representatives of youth and women groups across Ifako-Ijaiye and Ojokoro.
