The United Nations Association of Africa (UNAA) headquartered in Houston Texas, USA, has confirmed the dual appointment of Ambassador Victor Asije as its Coordinator of Ethics and Discipline Committee, and Head of Media and Communication.
Asije’s appointment and terms of reference letter signed by the office of the Founder and President-General reads in part: “Ambassador Victor Asije, the Office of the Founder and President-General of the United Nations Association of Africa (UNAA) USA Inc. hereby confirms your dual appointment as Coordinator of Ethics and Discipline Committee, and Head of Media and Communications.
“This dual mandate constitutes a strategic leadership role for safeguarding the institutional integrity, ethical standards, and public communication framework of the organisation.
“In this capacity, you shall serve both as the guardian of the organisation’s internal ethical standards, and as the principal coordinator of public communication and media engagement strategy.”
The letter further stated that Asije’s responsibilities shall include, but not limited to ethics and compliance oversight, investigations and internal review, documentation and compliance, ethics education, media and communication strategy, public representation, and strategic messaging.
The International Council of UNAA had in November, 2025, nominated Asije for appointment and award of global Eminent Peace Ambassador.
The eminent peace ambassador award represents UNAA highest calling, and one of its most distinguished recognitions.
The awards is reserved for individuals whose character, service, and leadership reflect the ideals of living for the sake of others, advancing universal moral values, and promoting peace through integrity and goodwill.
In his response, Asije, who thanked the UNAA Office of the Founder and President-General, promised to work within the terms of reference given to him.
“Truth, ethics, social justice, and discipline are time-tested, and are progressively intertwined. And the world cannot have too much of their doses, especially now that government institutions, private organisations, communities, and individuals are dismally being enmeshed in dishonest, corrupt, and self-aggrandizing practices.
“And because we at the United Nations Association of Africa (UNAA) are, and will be working assiduously at promoting the United Nations values, principles, and global programmes in Africa, therefore, upholding ethical standards, practices, powered with the much needed discipline, and backboned by an effective, and efficient media and communication strategy, should, and must remain non-negotiable!
“To us all at the UNAA, the time has come to recommit ourselves to our assignments of bringing together individuals, youth, women, civil society, and institutions to advance peace, sustainable development, good governance, and human dignity,” the ambassador said.
