The President, Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN, Comrade John Ogbe, has assured the union will take a firm stance against any member involved in illicit substance abuse at the airport.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the union’s new executives to the Skyway Aviation Handling Company, SAHCO management, comrade Ogbe said ATSSSAN would work closely with other aviation unions to tackle the growing concern.
He also urged the company to implement long-service awards for staff and provide more training opportunities for women.
In response, SAHCO Managing Director, Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, praised the ATSSSAN president for his commitment to workers’ welfare and called for a modern approach to unionism that balances employee rights with discipline and productivity.
She stressed that union membership should not encourage misconduct and urged the union to continue mentoring workers against substance abuse.
Mrs. Aboderin also highlighted SAHCO’s efforts to improve staff welfare, including a recent 40 percent salary increase, adding that the company has approved long-service awards and is working to clear outstanding backlogs.
