The 7th Meeting of the Banjul Accord Group Aviation Safety Oversight Organisation, BAGASOO Technical Committee on Regulations (TCR-07) has commenced in Lagos.
The meeting brings together key aviation regulators and stakeholders to advance the harmonization of aviation regulations across member states.
The meeting, which runs from March 24th to 28th, 2025, aims to ensure uniformity in regulations, guidance materials, and safety standards.
According to the Director General, Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Najomo, the committee plays a critical role in achieving a common regulatory framework that facilitates the mutual recognition of licenses, certificates, and approvals, in line with Article 33 of the Chicago Convention.
He emphasized the importance of a harmonized regulatory framework in promoting regional aviation safety.
BAGASOO Executive Director, Ms. Jailza Silva, welcomed the participants and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to strengthening regional aviation safety.
She stressed the need for aligning national laws, enhancing efficiency, and providing member states with the tools needed to meet international standards, regardless of their size or resources.
The five-day meeting is expected to produce a comprehensive harmonization strategy to ensure that no country is left behind in the pursuit of safer and more efficient air transport regulations.
The outcome of the meeting will be crucial in promoting a unified approach to aviation regulation and enhancing the safety of air travel in the region.
