Aviation Union vows to resolve labour issues through dialogue, reelects National President,others

The newly reelected National President, Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN, Comrade Illitrus Ahmadu has promised to employ dialogue in addressing issues pertaining to labour.

He made the promise after his victory at the recently concluded ATSSSAN delegates conference today in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State where he was reelected for a second term of four years as National President.

Comrade Illitrus said, workers in the industry should not loose hope because of the negative impact of the Covid-19 on the industry, adding that, recovery was possible if all employers and labour to work together in amicably resolving issues for the prosperity of the industry.

He stated that, this was not the time to start having protracted disagreements and dislocation of services when table negotiations, dialogue would help to solve the problems.

“I want employers and labour to work together so that we amicably resolve issues pertaining to our work force and prosperity of the industry, this is not the time for us to begin to have protracted disagreement, dislocation of services and stuff like that, so just like I have always stated, most of the achievements we recorded in the period under review were through table negotiations, dialogue, we will continue that to the benefit of the industry”.

The new ATSSSAN National President also assured members of working with other elected officials to increase the fortune of the union and its members now and into the future.

He called on all ATSSSAN members to work together as a family to continue to foster the interest of the entire members in the aviation sector.

“ATSSSAN is one family, our focus is to bind the house, heal wounds and who ever is aggrieved as a result of the election, we want to assure them that we will work as a family to continue to foster the interest of the entire members in the aviation sector”.

Delegates accredited to votes at the delegates conference were 83 and comrade Illitrus had 49 votes to beat his closest rival Comrade Ahmed Danjuma who had 34 votes.

Also elected were two National Deputy Presidents, two Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, three Trustees, two Auditors, three ex-officios and Women Leader.
