Aviation Unions raise alarm over imminent collapse of Aero, Arik

The National Union of Air Transport Employees, NUATE and the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN have called for stakeholders intervention to save Aero and Arik airlines from the verge of collapse.

The unions are alleging that, the plans for the airlines collapse are being orchestrated by certain individuals as this will impact negatively on the nation Aviation industry as well as put the future of the workforce in a major problem.

The Unions General Secretaries Comrade Ochema Aba and Frances Akinjole made the call at a news conference in Lagos.

In his address, comrade Aba, the National Assembly, the Minister of Aviation and his counterpart in Labour and Employment must come together to avert what he called impending major disaster from happening.

He stated that, the alleged forces planning the downfall of Aero and Arik air would jeopardize the future of more than seven hundred workforce in these two airline particularly Aero Contractors currently under serious threat.

Comrade Aba, called on the Aviation authorities to institute a probe of the alleged rumour of selling one or both of the Airlines to the promoters of the House of 5A’s at a cheap rate after an artificially created financial problem is being perpetrated by certain individuals who were bent to carrying out sinister act against the Airlines.

The Union’s Scribes frown at further attempts through the house of 5A’s to institute a phony lease contracts on Aero contractors and Arik Air, adding that, this must be halted to prevent frustrating AMCON’s genuine plans of turning the fortunes of the two Airlines around for stakeholders benefit.

The briefing condemned in its entirety the arrangements made to the House of 5A’s aircraft by certain individuals to give Arik’s flourishing routes of Lagos/Abuja/lagos, Abuja/Port Harcourt/Abuja and Abuja/ Kano/Abuja to the said Aviation company.
