Aviation Unions Warn NCAT of Shutdown Over Unresolved Conditions of Service

Aviation workers’ unions have issued a fourteen-day ultimatum to the Rector and Management of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, Zaria, over the prolonged delay in concluding the review of the institution’s Conditions of Service.

The unions say they are deeply dissatisfied with what they describe as Management’s lack of commitment to staff welfare, despite several rounds of engagement.

They note that although union leaders have endured discourteous treatment, they have continued to support the growth of the College because of its strategic importance to Nigeria’s aviation sector.

According to the unions, NCAT remains the only aviation agency yet to finalize its Conditions of Service review, a situation they say reflects mere lip service to workers’ concerns.

They warn that failure to conclude the review within fourteen days will leave them with no choice but to direct their members to withdraw their services.

The joint statement, signed by leaders of NAAPE, ATSSSAN, ANAP and NUATE, reaffirmed the unions’ commitment to the College’s objectives but stressed that staff welfare can no longer be neglected
