Bajulaiye Tips Lagos Traffic Radio as Trusted Companion for Seamless Navigation

The newly deployed Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olanrewaju Bajulaiye, has described Lagos Traffic Radio as a dependable and indispensable companion for motorists and residents navigating the city’s bustling traffic network.

Mr. Bajulaiye stated this during a working visit to the Station, where he commended the management and staff for their commitment to keeping Lagosians informed and mobile through timely and accurate traffic updates.

He called for greater synergy, innovation, and expansion of the Station’s services to further enhance its efficiency and align with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration.

“We must continue to open new frontiers — even to the diaspora — so that Lagosians abroad can stay informed about developments back home. Lagos is not just any state; it is a mega city, the largest economy in sub-Saharan Africa, and all eyes are on us. What Lagos Traffic Radio is doing is meeting the needs and yearnings of the people, and the team must keep it up,” Mr. Bajulaiye said.

Accompanied by Dr. Jide Atansuyi, Director of Social Media, and Mr. Kayode Oyekanmi, Director of Strategy Centre, the Permanent Secretary noted that Lagos’ strategic position as the economic nerve centre of the sub-region makes the Station’s role in traffic management and public communication even more critical.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the General Manager of Lagos Traffic Radio, Mr. Tayo Akanle, congratulated Mr. Bajulaiye on his appointment and redeployment to the Ministry, describing it as a “homecoming” that would further enrich the Ministry’s vision and coordination.

Akanle outlined the Station’s achievements over the past 13 years, including the expansion of traffic coverage across waterways, railways, and air routes, as well as the introduction of live camera feeds, real-time motorbike incident reports, and the establishment of a booster station in Ikorodu, with another planned for Ibeju-Lekki to strengthen broadcast signals.

“Lagos Traffic Radio was established to provide traffic information and travel advisories to motorists within and beyond Lagos. Thirteen years down the line, the Station has remained true to its mandate, growing in leaps and bounds,” Akanle stated.

He also highlighted the Station’s remarkable social media growth, with Facebook followers rising from 4,000 in 2019 to over 100,000, and its X (formerly Twitter) handle increasing from 15,000 to 55,000 followers, reflecting stronger audience engagement.

The Permanent Secretary and his team were later conducted round the studio facilities, transmitter room, and the live motorbike reporter unit to inspect ongoing operations and innovations aimed at improving real-time traffic reportage.
