Bauchi to Launch Free Antenatal Services in 212 Centres

The Bauchi State Government has procured 20 new 4D ultrasound machines for general hospitals across its 20 local government areas.

The procurement was done under the World Bank-assisted Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Project.

To ensure consistent power supply, arrangements have also been made to solarise all 20 general hospitals. This will help improve the reliability of healthcare services.

Dr. Adamu Muhammad, Programme Manager of the IMPACT Project, disclosed this during an orientation session for newly recruited health workers.

He added that the solar power initiative will also extend to the State Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Primary Health Care Board, and the Hospital Management Board.

According to Dr. Muhammad, the overall goal of the intervention is to enhance both the quantity and quality of healthcare delivery across the state.

He also announced that free antenatal and delivery services will soon begin at 212 primary healthcare centres supported by the IMPACT Project.

Pregnant women visiting these centres will receive health talks, basic antenatal medications, and necessary investigations throughout their pregnancies.
