Breaking: Renowned Evangelist, Uma Ukpai Dies at 80

‎‎
‎Nigeria has lost one of its foremost evangelists, Reverend Dr. Uma Ukpai, founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), who passed away at the age of 80.

‎A statement posted on his official Instagram handle, @Uma_Ukpai, on Monday, confirmed that the revered preacher died on October 6, 2025.

‎In the statement titled “With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai,” his family expressed appreciation to God for his life of service and impact.

‎The statement read in part:

‎“A faithful soldier of the cross has been called to rest. Dedicating over six decades of his life to fiery evangelism, dynamic teaching of the Word, and prophetic demonstrations of God’s power, he impacted millions and transformed destinies across Nigeria and beyond.”

‎The family described him as “a founding father of faith, loving husband, devoted father, mentor to many, and a spiritual general whose life reflected God’s power and love.”

‎While urging Christians to celebrate his legacy rather than mourn his passing, the family added that details of the burial arrangements would be announced later.

‎Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, known for his non-denominational outreach and soul-winning crusades, established the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association with headquarters in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

‎He is survived by his wife, children, and several spiritual protégés who continue to uphold his vision for global evangelism.

‎The family concluded with a scripture that defined his life’s mission:

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” — Philippians 1:21.
