By-election: Security Operatives Arrest INEC Officials, Politician with Cash in Ogun

Security operatives have arrested two persons suspected to be officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a politician in Ogun State over alleged vote-buying.

‎The suspects were apprehended at a hotel in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area, on Saturday, ahead of the state’s by-election.

‎In a viral video, a man and a woman identified as INEC staff were seen being questioned by security agents while squatting.

‎They were reportedly arrested alongside some political party members.

‎According to security sources, intelligence reports had earlier revealed that the officials were compromised with a large sum of money allegedly provided by party operatives to influence the polls.

‎Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be prosecuted if found guilty.
