Security operatives have arrested two persons suspected to be officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a politician in Ogun State over alleged vote-buying.
The suspects were apprehended at a hotel in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area, on Saturday, ahead of the state’s by-election.
In a viral video, a man and a woman identified as INEC staff were seen being questioned by security agents while squatting.
They were reportedly arrested alongside some political party members.
According to security sources, intelligence reports had earlier revealed that the officials were compromised with a large sum of money allegedly provided by party operatives to influence the polls.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be prosecuted if found guilty.
