Chairmanship Aspirant promises food banks to reduce hunger in Yaba LCDA

As the political arena in Lagos State charges following the forthcoming Local Government election, an aspirant for the position of Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Authority, LCDA, Mr. Adetayo Oyemade Junior, has promised to establish food banks within Yaba area to stem the tide of hunger among the people.

Oyemade, made the pledge while declaring his intention to contest at an event which saw aspirants for the post of counselor in the various wards within Yaba metropolitan.

The event held at the Akinwummi Sports Centre, Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos State was attended by the faithful of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and associates of the chairmanship hopeful who doubles as the Secretary to the LCDA. (SSG).

At the event, party Stewarts in the state took stocks of the achievements of the APC in the area, and pledged their support for Oyemade’s ambition.

The tenure of the current Lagos State Council executives will elapse on June 18, and preparations have been in top gear for an electioneering process to elect new executives to replace the outgoing ones.

Adetayo, who decried the subsisting hunger in the society, said that the food centres that he will establish if elected would be funded with proceeds from levies and would serve the vulnerable in the society to give them a sense of belonging.

“Within our first hundred days in office we will ensure to bridge the gap between the have and the have not by providing basic needs such as food to the masses.

“Every ward in the council will be allocated one to take the burden of food away from people and to enable them contribute well to the growth of society.

“The human person is the core of growth and development of every society. As a government we are going to develop our human capital in such a way that it is in tandem with the Cosmopolitan Yaba brand of our aspiration.

“It the Yaba people that will develop the city therefore the basic needs of the people such food, health, education and housing will be of priority to the administration to enable us get the required workforce to drive the 21 century needed development,” he said.

He appealed to the electorate for their support to the APC and for his victory at the polls, assuring them that his victory would ignite an unprecedented development of the area.

He urged people to get their voters cards handy and to conduct themselves peacefully during and after the election.
