Chris Hemsworth—yes, the chiseled Norse god of thunder himself—is back, but this time not to smash villains or flex in slow motion.
Instead, he’s busy aging gracefully, playing drums with Ed Sheeran, climbing dams for fun, and asking life’s biggest questions… like how not to turn into a grandpa before your 50th birthday.
The 41-year-old Aussie star returns for Season 2 of Limitless, a National Geographic series where he ditches Thor’s cape and dives—literally and figuratively—into the science of living longer and stronger.
And let’s just say, it’s not all protein shakes and spa days.
“The first season almost killed me,” Hemsworth admitted, probably half-joking, to the BBC. “And I thought, ‘never again.’” Famous last words.
Season one saw him doing things only slightly less terrifying than fighting aliens: free-diving into the abyss, walking on a crane 900 feet above ground, fasting (which no superhero should be forced to do), and generally pushing his body and mind to the edge.
So naturally, he signed up for round two.
This time, however, the show is going deeper—emotionally and musically. Yes, you read that right. Chris Hemsworth learned to play the drums and performed live with Ed Sheeran. Somewhere out there, Thor’s hammer is weeping.
“I’ve always wanted to play an instrument,” Hemsworth says, “but my kids are better at it than me. So I had to catch up—fast.”
He also scaled a 600-foot Alpine dam, inspired by his children’s “carefree risk-taking,” which sounds like code for “they dared me.”
But Limitless isn’t just about adrenaline and abs. Hemsworth revealed that a genetic test showed he carries two copies of the ApoE4 gene, which increases his chances of developing Alzheimer’s.
Rather than panic or over-Google his symptoms like the rest of us would, he took it as a call to action.
“It was a wake-up call,” he said. “But also a chance to educate others.
Still, he’s not jumping on the extreme biohacking bandwagon. Unlike tech tycoon Bryan Johnson—who’s spent millions trying to reverse his age and basically become a real-life robot—Hemsworth is keeping things balanced.
“There’s no point living to 150 if you’re lonely and eat nothing but algae,” he joked (we think). “I want to be healthy but also live.”
And while Johnson may be chasing immortality like it’s a Marvel post-credit scene, Hemsworth is more philosophical: “Nobody cheats death. We have to embrace it.”
Deep stuff from a guy whose day job includes fighting Thanos.
Despite all the personal growth and life lessons, Hemsworth isn’t hanging up the hammer just yet.
He’ll return as Thor in Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release in 2026. Whether or not there’ll be another solo film is still up in the air (or in Asgard), but he’s not ruling it out.
“I still love it,” he said. “We’ll see where it goes.”
