CLEEN advocates compliance on administration of justice.

To ensure good status in compliance with the Administration of Justice Act in Nigeria,

an international non – governmental organization, NGO, called CLEEN Foundation has called on the Media to ensure that stakeholders in the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA, carry out their duties for better administration of criminal justice.

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Gad Peter, made the call during a media presentation on the stakeholders status of compliance with the Administration of Criminal Justice Act In Nigeria and

support from MacArthur Foundation in Ikeja, Lagos.

The CLEEN Foundation has conducted an assessment of stakeholders compliance with the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) in eight states of the federation.

They are Edo, Kwara , Bauchi, Sokoto, Delta, Katsina, Jigawa, and cross river states.

According to him, ” the analysis was to evaluate the extent to which various stakeholders including law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, and Civil societies adhere to the provisions of the ACJA “.

Mr Peter admonished stakeholders in the Administration of Criminal Justice Act to ”  redouble their efforts to ensure full compliance with the Act ‘.

On his part the Director of Programme, CLEEN Foundation Dr Salaudeen Hashim said, and I quote, ” thirty-three states have domesticated the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA, as other states are either in the process or the law is sitting dock “.

” The implementation of the Act will not only help to modernise the criminal justice system in Nigeria, but create platforms for transparency and accountability in the sector ,” ” Hashim

The executive Director of CLEEN stressed that, ”  it was imperative that the Administration of Criminal Justice Committees be activated and funded across all the states ‘ he said.
