Coastal Highway: FG, Subscribers Disprove 250m Dollars Compensation Claim of Winhomes

Fresh facts have emerged on the ownership of the controversial WinHomes Estate land spanning twelve point four hectares of land, part of which was used for the construction of the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway.

Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mr Olufemi Dare, who addressed newsmen at the location in Okun Ajah with documented evidences, explained that only less than four hectares were taken over for the construction, while the government offered compensation for the only Gate House demolished but which was declined by the owner of CEO of WinHomes, Stella Okengwo.

Mr Dare stated that the claim for compensation for a two hundred and fifty million dollars investment had already been struck out by a Lagos Federal High Court in November last year.

He added that the bribery allegation of Okengwo against him was also false.

Speaking on behalf of other subscribers, representative of a major subscriber company, Mr Olusesan Odeyingbo who also presented documents, accused Stella Okengwo of impersonation, having sold seventy plots of the remaining land, yet demanding compensation from the federal government.

Mr Odeyingbo called on the US government where Stella Okengwo is said to be based, to repatriate her to Nigeria to answer charges for their unclaimed investments.

The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mr Dare also took the newsmen to the Mopo Ijebu location where the Costal Highway was diverted to salvage Marine Cables of three Telecommunications companies, servicing Nigeria and five other West African countries, which Stella Okengwo had also claimed to be untrue overtime.
