Cocaine Smuggler Caught with 111 Wraps in Stomach

…as a Freight Agent is Arrested for Attempting to Smuggle Cocaine to the UK

A 48-year-old businessman, Emmanuel Okechuku Orjinze, was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja for attempting to smuggle 111 wraps of cocaine into Paris, France. 

According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Orjinze, who claims to be a professional footballer in Europe, was arrested on May 21st after a body scan revealed he had ingested the illicit drugs.

After being taken into custody, Orjinze excreted a total of 111 pellets of cocaine weighing 1.603 kilograms over a period of three days. 

The NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest and the subsequent excretion of the drugs.

In a separate incident, the NDLEA dismantled a drug trafficking syndicate at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. 

Four members of the syndicate were arrested, and a total of 8kg of methamphetamine and 7.60kg of Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, was seized. 

The syndicate was uncovered when an airport official was intercepted with a backpack and bag containing the illicit substances.

Further investigation led to the arrest of two other members of the syndicate, Chris Nwadozie and Chinedu Nwaosu, and another member working within the airport system. 

Additionally, a freight agent, Sonubi Mariam Abiodun, was arrested at the NAHCO export shed of the Lagos airport for attempting to cargo 8 parcels of cocaine weighing 2kg concealed in paint buckets packaged for export to the United Kingdom.
