EAPEAN Inaugurated in Lagos as Federal Ministry Of Labour And Employment Digitalises Recruiters Licenses

The Employers Association for Private Employment Agencies of Nigeria, EAPEAN, has officially been launched in Lagos.

With that development, EAPEAN becomes an authorized Trade Union of Employers in Nigeria.

At the inauguration of the association and first Chief Executive conference in Ikeja, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, congratulated the association for achieving the feat despite the rigorous procedures.

The Minister who was represented by the Director Employment and Wages, Mr John Nyamali, hinted that the process of obtaining and renewing recruiters licenses have now been digitalized for ease of doing business.

“I therefore urge you to consolidate on the gains already recorded and widen your horizon by seriously considering registration with the International Organisation for Employers and World Association of Private Employment Agencies. This will enable you to leverage on their experiences and expertise with a view to possible adaptation of best practices.”

President National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Justice Benedict Kanyip, advised the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to update its Trade Unions data with the International Labour Organization to avoid being query on their activities in the global employment market.

President of EAPEAN, Dr Olufemi Ogunlowo, stated that the association was inaugurated to address challenges of job seekers and ensure employers have access to reliable and efficient employment services.

“As we conclude this launch event, let us reflect on the immense potential that lies ahead for the private employment sector in Nigeria. Together, we can drive innovation, promote ethical standards, and create a more equitable and prosperous job market for all.”

In an address of welcome, the Chairman planning committee, Chief Nzeribe Okegbue, said the association would serve as a platform for all licensed private employment agencies in the country to collectively voice their concerns, share ideas, and collaborate towards enhancing the quality of services they provide.

“I am confident that this association and conference will serve as a catalyst for positive change and growth in the sector. Together, we can shape the future of private employment in Nigeria, ensuring that both job seekers and employers have access to reliable and professional recruitment services.”

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of Registration certificate to the Association Board of Trustee by the representative of the Minister of State for Labour and Employment.

The event themed outsourcing in the twenty first century and its challenges had in attendance Chairperson Nigeria Labour Congress, Lagos State chapter Comrade Funmi Sessi, leaders of Private Employers Agencies among others.
