Ebira indigenes in Kogi State have condemned the insinuations that the recall process against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, lacks support from the electorate.
The indigenes, representing the five local governments of Kogi Central, stated their intention to bring the Senator back home due to the embarrassment she has caused the district, which has taken on an “international dimension.” This stance was expressed in a statement signed by Alh. Ibrahim Abdulazeez Ibrahim and Prince Akerejola Johnson of Ogori/Magongo LGA.
They urged Nigerians to disregard claims suggesting that constituents were misled into participating in the recall exercise, asserting that the community is united in this cause. “We cannot be deceived. What she has done is largely propaganda. Even some former supporters have distanced themselves from her. We cannot compromise the integrity of the state for her personal interests,” they stated.
On the matter of INEC’s disclaimer of the exercise, they clarified that the commission has no role until the signature collection phase is complete. “We will ensure the required threshold is met before presenting the petition for verification,” they explained.
The indigenes are determined to bring Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan back home so she can learn to effectively represent her constituents, emphasizing that her current approach has disrespected Senate rules and led to unnecessary national embarrassment.
They concluded that she should return home to learn the true art of law-making, rather than focusing on social media content.
