In a move aimed at boosting Edo State’s aviation sector, the Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Uwuilekhur Idehen, has concluded a strategic working tour of airlines and aviation training facilities in Lagos.
The tour provided an opportunity for the Commissioner to engage with key industry players and explore pathways for human capacity development for Edo indigenes.
A key stop on the visit was the 7Star Global Hangar, where discussions focused on establishing apprenticeship programs for aircraft technicians and mechanics.
The initiative is designed to train successive batches of Edo youths, equipping them with the skills needed to contribute to a growing local workforce.
According to the commissioner, this drive forms part of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s “Shine Agenda,” which prioritizes the development of transportation infrastructure across the state.
From the reactivation of the defunct New Edo Line to improvements in the Edo City Transport Service, the agenda aims to ensure seamless travel across air, rail, water, and land networks, positioning Edo State as a major regional hub.
The state’s commitment to building local expertise and enhancing its transportation network, the visit shows, signals a new chapter in Edo’s journey toward becoming a center of aviation excellence.
