Eko Club Executives Visit Lagos Speaker Meranda, Pledge Support for Her Leadership

The leadership of Eko Club, Africa’s premier socio-cultural organization, has paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, at her office in Alausa, Ikeja.

The delegation, led by the club’s president, AbdulRasak Amodu, engaged in discussions with the Speaker on the club’s commitment to the development of Lagos and its support for her historic tenure as the first female Speaker of the state assembly.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Amodu described the visit as a homecoming, highlighting the club’s deep-rooted connection to Lagos and its diverse membership across all divisions of the state.

“This is truly a homecoming. In our midst are princes, princesses—sons and daughters of the soil. Madam Speaker, Eko Club is the voice of Lagosians, with distinguished personalities from across the state as members,” Amodu stated.

He commended Meranda’s leadership, expressing confidence in her ability to steer the Assembly effectively.

“Lagos is fortunate to have a Speaker who is not only a true daughter of the land but also a progressive leader with a clear vision. We urge you to remain focused, as Lagosians have great expectations. We also hope for a harmonious relationship between the Assembly and other arms of government, and we pledge to serve as a bridge between the people and the legislature.”

In her response, Rt. Hon. Meranda expressed her gratitude for the visit and acknowledged the club’s longstanding contributions to the progress of Lagos.

“Thank you, Mr. President. I do not take this visit for granted. The turnout today is overwhelming, and I deeply appreciate your support and encouragement.”

She reassured the delegation of her commitment to effective leadership, promising to uphold the trust placed in her by the people of Lagos.

“By God’s grace, I will not disappoint you, I will not disappoint Lagos, and most importantly, I will not disappoint my gender,” she affirmed.

The visit underscored Eko Club’s dedication to fostering strong civic engagement and supporting progressive leadership in Lagos State.
