In a bold move to tackle economic hardship and promote financial empowerment, Emerald Network International Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has introduced a global gifting platform called Cash4Us.
The initiative enables Nigerians to participate in a global community where their inputs grows in a structured gifting system.
Speaking at a financial summit organized by Emerald Network Foudation in collaboration with Cash4Us International, held at Villa Park Hotel and Suites, Amuwo-Odofin Festac Link Road , Lagos, the Founder, Princess Ify Okonkwo, said the platform is designed to help Nigerians attain financial freedom in a challenging economic climate.
Under the theme “Leveraging on the Power of Gifting,” Princess Ify Okonkwo explained that the system mirrors the traditional African savings practice of Ajo or Esusu but is reimagined using modern digital technology to create a global and virtual experience.
“This system allows people to join a community with a shared goal — to support and uplift one another,” Princess Ify said.
“They create a system whereby people would be impacted. People coming together to help themselves. In an Evolving system with re-commitments creating a natural Ecosystem.
“We have something that our
forefathers used to practice to help themselves financially. They created a pool of funds and one person goes with that pool. And it keeps circulating the cycle until everyone in that cycle has been gifted. The same is replicated in Cash4Us, but in a modernized pattern, very hybrid and computerized , Crunching the numbers of participants and allowing people to come together from different Countries
“Now, this community of people still do the same, but this time, not just what you put in, you go ahead to get more than just your inputs, And this keeps circulating. The more other people come into the community, the more every other person is also being gifted. It’s been practiced for 11years in the US , some Nigerians and other African Countries , The Caribbean, The Canadians and The Uk. So in this parlance, we do not call it Ajo or Esusu; it is called gifting. People come together, gift themselves, and continue to gift themselves. The more, the merrier,” Princess Ify clarified.
Commenting on the journey towards introducing the system to Nigerian participants, Princess Ify Okonkwo said it was made possible by Nigerians in the diaspora who are eager to support their people at home to cope with the hardship in the country.
The system, which she said has been in operation in the US, UK, and other developed nations, enabling nationals of those countries to achieve financial freedom, has proven to be quite legitimate and transparent, which explained why Emerald Foundations decided to partner with them to replicate the success story in Nigeria and Africa at large.
She said, “This has been going on in American society where some of the people in Nigeria started with, joining them to do same to fund this pool and now bringing it to Nigeria. It is indeed a global Community .
“Presently in Nigeria, the economic instability is hitting hard That is why Cash4Us is timely,” she reinstated.
