Emergency & Disaster Management; Four States Understudy LASEMA

Key officials from Kaduna, Kano, Yobe and Ekiti States’ Emergency Management Agency are in Lagos to understudy the operations of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA.

In an address of welcome,LASEMA’s Director General, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the teams have been peer reviewing and brainstorming on the most efficient and effective disaster reduction strategies to minimize loss of lives.

Dr Oke-Osanyintolu hinted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu had signed a five year 2021 to 2025, strategic plan for LASEMA to upscale its service delivery to residents.

The LASEMA Boss advised the Emergency Management Agency Teams from the visiting States to continuously build the capacity of their staff and leverage on the use of technology and technical partners to ensure a global standard.

“My advice is that we should work together so that the good people of Nigeria will feel the impact and enjoy the dividends of democracy and the the basic dividends is the safety of life and properties” Dr Oke-Osanyintolu said

On their parts, the Chairman Ekiti state Emergency Management Agency, retired Captain Sunday Adebomi and the Executive Secretaries of Yobe, Kaduna and Kano, Mr Goje Mohammed and Mr Mohammed Muazu, commended LASEMA for inaugurating Local Emergency Management committees in all the Council Areas and LCDAs in the State.

They promised to leverage more on the use of technology when they get back to their various states and urged their Governors to emulate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in boosting capacity of emergency responders to enable them become more efficient

The teams later went on a tour of all the Lagos Response Units in Lekki, Fadeyi and the resettlement camp in Igando
