The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been urged to allow a competent and an experienced person to represent Alimosho Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly come 2023.
A group under the aegis of Concerned Progressives in Alimosho, CPA, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos.
According to the group, Nigerians will be going to the polls in the first quarter of 2023 and all flag bearers of political parties will be elected via primaries.
The statement signed by the Coordinator of the group, Barrister Femi Okunuga, noted that Alimosho, “like every other constituency will elect its representatives for the general election – the representatives are not enough in itself but a competent and experienced persons must be elected.”
The group pointed out that the only individual capable of representing Alimosho Constituency 1 is the former Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Mr. Abiodun Mafe.
Explaining the rationale behind this, Okunuga said, “Lately, many people are wondering or even questioning the rationale behind his switching of aspiration from House of Representatives to House of Assembly, he said Mafe is a realistic personality very far from hallucination.
“Mr. Abiodun Mafe had served the people of Mosan Okunola LCDA meritoriously as executive chairman and the record is there for all to see. It is a known fact, that his record still stands tall since he left office about 8 years ago.
“It is realistically correct for him after several sessions of meeting with various stakeholders to opt out of the race for House of Representatives and further his service delivery at the state assembly.
“It is a known fact, that, Her Excellency, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire is contesting for the Lagos West Senatorial District and most likely her chances of getting the ticket is high, God willing.
“This coming election is about presenting those with good track records, those who are marketable, those who are well grounded and vastly connected with the grassroots. It is a fresh election where most incumbents are not running, hence, trusted hands must be put forward by our party.
“The legacies of Hon. Abiodun Mafe in Mosan Okunola LCDA speak volume and his experiences at state and national level for serving our party, the All progressives congress is another added advantage.
“Thereby, his venturing into politics is simply about service to the people. So, it is logically reasonable that, if Alimosho Constituency 1 gets the Senate slot, it is unrealistic to get the ticket of the House of representatives.
“Her Excellency Senate’s ambition is a big plus to Alimosho -and – it is not out of place for all of us to rally behind her to achieve this lofty project. “In whatever capacity, Mafe is okay to continue serving his people.”
The popular Rauf Aregbesola health center was one of the very many legacies of this great man.
The group however, urged APC delegates in the constituency to trust Mafe with their votes to represent the area in the Lagos State House of assembly, assuring that he will deliver and not disappoint.
