The International Maritime Institute of Nigeria (IMION) says ideas from its executive course can shape Nigeria’s maritime future.
Director General, Rear Admiral Thaddeus Udofia (rtd), said this while declaring open the IMION Executive Course on Nigeria’s Blue Economy Policy and unveiling the institute’s newsletter in Apapa, Lagos.
Rear Admiral Udofia said Nigeria is at a critical point in harnessing the benefits of the blue economy.

He noted that with a coastline of about 420 nautical miles, vast inland waterways, and a strategic position in the Gulf of Guinea, the country is well placed to benefit.
He called for collaboration among policymakers, security agencies, academia, civil society, and industry leaders to implement sustainable policies.

The Special Guest of Honour, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, said the newsletter shows IMION’s commitment to communication and knowledge sharing.
Represented by the FOC Naval Doctrine Command, Rear Admiral Bob Manuel Effiong, he said it will help share ideas and highlight achievements.
Senior military officers, paramilitary personnel, and maritime stakeholders attended the event.
A lecture titled Introduction to the Blue Economy was delivered by Mfon Ekong Usoro.
