FAAN boosts Airport Safety with 201 newly trained AVSEC Cadets

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has bolstered its workforce with the graduation of 201 aviation security cadets to address security gaps across the country’s airports.

During the graduation ceremony in Lagos, the Managing Director, FAAN, Mrs Olubunmni Kuku reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to prioritizing the safety, security, and comfort of passengers. 

She urged the newly inducted AVSEC officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, emphasizing that passengers’ safety and confidence rest in their hands.

“Permit me to remind us that the safety and security of lives and property is at the core of our business. As such, we deploy all human and material resources to ensure we provide the nation with the best trained personnel to carry out our various job function with an emphasis on Aviation Security”.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Femi Akpata, the Commandant AVSEC, FAAN, highlighted that part of the training is aimed at enhancing the cadets’ skills in counter-terrorism, conflict management, and effective communication.

“The training has no doubt enhanced the information skills and effective security with sister security agencies and ensure that our airports are safe and conducive to all users”.

The 201 aviation security cadets underwent an 8-week training program, covering various security aspects, including airport emergency response procedures, leadership, and security awareness, to enhance their capabilities.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of awards and gifts to the best performing AVSEC cadets in Academics, behaviour, Physical fitness exercise, Communication amongst others.
