FAAN Deploys ‘Mystery Staff’ to Combat Irregularities and Boost Airport Integrity

Mr. Kabir Mohammed, Managing Director, FAAN

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has deployed undercover personnel known as “mystery staff” to the major international airports, tasked with monitoring and reporting any irregularities involving airport personnel and government agencies.

The Managing Director of FAAN, Mr. Kabir Mohammed, revealed this initiative during the Airport Council International (ACI) sensitization workshop in Lagos.

He emphasized FAAN’s dedication to preventing passenger extortion at its airports and expressed dissatisfaction with Murtala Muhammed International Airport’s tarnished reputation.

Warning of disciplinary consequences, he specifically targeted individuals extorting passengers during the Yuletide season.

Mr. Kabir called on representatives from various government agencies, such as Customs, Immigration, Quarantine, and Police, to maintain high standards, highlighting the surveillance cameras overseeing activities.

Emphasizing FAAN’s zero-tolerance policy for further embarrassment, he encouraged collaborative efforts to boost the airport’s image.

The ACI sensitization event, oranized by the Directorate of Airport Operations, included an interactive session addressing concerns and proposing positive suggestions for enhancing the airport’s reputation.

Notably, top management staff of FAAN, government agencies, and concessionaires were present at the event held at Lagos International Airport.
