The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has commended staff for their unity, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.
She gave the commendation at the closing ceremony of the 11th Annual FAAN Inter-Directorate Sports Competition, held on Thursday.
Represented by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebire, Mrs. Kuku described the one-month-long tournament as a “remarkable celebration of strength, skill, and the indomitable FAAN spirit.”
She said the competition went beyond the pursuit of medals, as it fostered stronger bonds among staff across various directorates, including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and Security.
Mrs. Kuku praised participants for their courage, discipline, and sportsmanship, noting that their performances on the field mirrored the excellence FAAN is known for in the aviation sector.
She also commended the Director of Human Resources and Administration, as well as the General Manager of Welfare and Management Services, for their dedication and coordination in ensuring the success of the event.
The FAAN boss appreciated the volunteers and organizers who worked behind the scenes to make the tournament safe, fair, and enjoyable.
According to her, “The true victory lies not just in the trophies, but in the friendships built, the teamwork strengthened, and the spirit of togetherness rekindled.
Every participant is a winner because excellence at FAAN is not confined to our offices or airports—it also thrives on the field of play.”
She urged staff to sustain the unity and camaraderie demonstrated during the games in their daily work to strengthen FAAN’s collective drive for efficiency and excellence.
The month-long sports fiesta featured various games, including lawn tennis, table tennis, scrabble, chess, swimming, badminton, draught, and ayo.
Mrs. Kuku congratulated all participating directorates and winners, expressing optimism that the spirit of sportsmanship would continue to guide FAAN as it strives for greater excellence, unity, and service to the nation.
