The Federal Ministry of Works has debunked information making the rounds that the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State is defective and poses danger to users, with an advice that alternative routes are utilised.
Controller of Works in Lagos, Mrs Olukorede Kesha, led some journalists on a tour of the bridge today to clarify that the information was completely false.
Mrs Kesha, a Civil Engineer, stated that the Third Mainland Bridge was not in any state of distress, describing the false alarm on social media as the handiwork of some mischievous persons against the good efforts of the President Bola Tinubu administration.
She explained that maintenance of the under deck and underwater infrastructure of the bridge was still ongoing and does not in any way make the bridge unsafe for use.
Mrs Kesha assured that the restriction of Heavy Duty vehicles from plying the Third Mainland Bridge was the only measure required to allow the fixing of some deflected slabs.
She told the motoring public to disregard the negative report about the integrity of the bridge, stressing that it remains safe for use.
