The Federal Training Centre (FTC) has a rich history of training civil servants in Nigeria, dating back to the country’s independence. The centre’s original mandate was to equip civil servants with the skills needed to take on roles in the secretarial line, particularly at the middle and junior levels.
Over the years, the FTC has remained committed to this mission, offering services in the secretariat line, management line, and other areas. However, in 2001, the centre underwent a significant transformation with a curriculum review that expanded its programs to include other disciplines.
Today, the FTC offers a range of courses, including National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in Office Technology and Management, Public Administration, and Computer Science. The centre also provides certificate programmes in areas such as Typewriting and Word Processing, and Information Technology.
The FTC’s commitment to training and development has made it a reputable institution in Nigeria’s public service. As the country continues to evolve, the FTC remains dedicated to equipping civil servants with the skills and knowledge needed to drive growth and development.
The Federal Training Centre’s legacy serves as a testament to the importance of investing in human capital development. As Nigeria continues to navigate the complexities of governance and development, institutions like the FTC will play a vital role in shaping the country’s future.
