FG Begins Reconstruction of Sagamu-Ibadan, Sagamu-Ijebu Ode-Ore Highways

In a bid to actualize the Renewed Hope Agenda Infrastructure Development, the Federal Government has commenced the rehabilitation, reconstruction and expansion works on Lagos-Ibadan dual carriageway section one and
Lagos – Sagamu Phase Two project in Ogun State.

Lagos – Ibadan Expressway is considered the busiest route linking Lagos which is an economic hub to other states of the country, while Sagamu – Ijebu – Ode – Ore Expressway is a connection to seventeen Southern states of Nigeria.

President Bola Tinubu who was represented by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, said the planned upgrading of the project was a testament of the commitment of his administration to priority of the safety of road users, reduced travel time, economic prosperity to meet international standards.

The President appealed to road users to be patient and the contractor to work assiduously to deliver the project on schedule in line with his administration’s unwavering commitment to infrastructural development and enhancing the ease of businesses across the country.

Also speaking, Minister of Works, David Umahi, had explained that the phase one of the project between Lagos and Sagamu had already been delivered, while the phase two being flagged off, would entail the construction of five Pedestrian Bridges, two flyovers and repairs around six underpasses.

Umahi thanked President Tinubu for giving priority to completion of inherited projects across the country
and Governor Abiodun for his passion for infrastructural development in Ogun State and entire South West, restating the commitment to the rehabilitation, reconstruction and completion of various roads under the renewed hope agenda.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South West), Moremi Ojudu, conveyed the avowed commitment of the President to be responsive to the pertinent yearnings of the citizenry, including infrastructural upgrade, as evident with

Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Works, Akin Alabi, had said the event marked another landmark development that would affect the lives of Nigerians positively.

The Commissioner for Works in Ogun State, Adebowale Akinsanya affirmed that the state government was enjoying the cooperation of the federal government and that there will be collaboration to ensure that the new project is delivered far less than the twenty – four months schedule.

Earlier, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, urged the federal government to construct two overpasses or bumps on Sagamu and Ilisan-Ilabo junctions, for effective traffic management and to prevent accidents due to over speeding in the axes.

The event had in attendance government officials, other notable traditional rulers, officials of the Federàl Ministry of Works led by Controller Works, Lagos, Olukorede Kesha, her Ogun State counterpart, Forosola Oloyede among other stakeholders.
