The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has addressed concerns over the proposed concession of the Enugu International Airport, emphasizing that the process is ongoing and transparent.

According to the Ministry in a statement, the Federal Government is considering proposals from prospective concessionaires to manage and maintain the airport, along with four other major airports, to ensure they meet international standards.

The Ministry denied reports suggesting that a lengthy concession period has been agreed upon for the Enugu International Airport, describing the claims as baseless and untrue.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo, has ensured that the process is inclusive, directing that Aviation Labour Unions be part of the negotiating teams.

The Ministry assured the public that all submitted proposals are undergoing thorough evaluation and will be reviewed by the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) before being presented to the Minister for conveyance to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for approval.

The review process is ongoing, and no decision has been made.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and due process-driven concession process, assuring that all decisions will be made in the best interest of the nation and the aviation sector.
