FG inaugurates first Art Hotel in Lagos

The Federal Government says it will continue to improve investors’ confidence in arts and culture, and promote domestic tourism.

Minster of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed stated this at the inauguration of The Art Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Alhaji Lai said arts and culture had a major role in national culture, noting that the federal government had taken steps to repatriate stolen artefacts.

The Minister said ” Hospitality has a huge role in national development. When a Nigerian can invest in this sector shows that the country is still a good place this invest.”

The Deputy Governor of Lagos, Dr. Obafem Hamzat, who performed the tape cutting function for the official opening of the hotel, said the state government supported innovations in different sectors.

“We have a lot of hotels in Lagos, but we do not have enough. This will add to the state’s tourism credentials” he added

In a welcome address, the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal who stated that the kingdom was proud to host the facility assured investors of the community’s support for their businesses.

“We assure investors that the Oniru kingdom will continue to add value to their business, by ensuring safety and basic amenities are provided”

Chairman of the Hotel, Mr. Habib Oniru stated that the idea of the facility was to add creativity to hospitality, as there had not been such in the industry.

Mr. Habib Oniru said “We Nigerians are talented, and hardworking, we should not give up on the country. This is a private establishment borne out of creativity”

The event was attended by stakeholders in arts and culture sector.
