Former NiMET boss calls for mentorship of young professionals to address inadequate personnel in the system

Former Director General, Nigeria Meteorological Agency, NiMET, Dr. Anthony Anuforom wants, aviation agencies to embark on mentorship programme for young professionals to address the shortage of critical personnel in the industry.

Dr. Anuforom speaking after receiving an award of recognition from the National Air Traffic Communicators Association for his transformation in NiMET, said the re-engagement of retiring personnel can also help in tackling the dearth of manpower.

He stressed that, trainings remained the key to ensuring professionalism, safety and better agency, adding that, the industry would pick up gradually after the lockdown and urging stakeholders to support the ministry to move the industry forward. 


On his assessment of the present NiMET performance, Dr. Anuforom said he was excited with the performance of the current DG Prof Mansur Matazu for implementing  the elaborate handing over note he left behind. 

“I am so happy that today the present DG, Prof Matazu is like following that footsteps. He was part of it and I am happy that NiMet is vibrant and come back to reckoning in terms of active agency that renders critical service”.


On his award, Dr. Anuforom described it as a big honour and a great surprise for NACA to have recognized him after ten years.
