Radio Nigeria is ready to partner relevant organizations and agencies in its quest for eradication of harmful acts capable of affecting children.
The Director, Lagos Operations of FRCN, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi, gave the assurance at this year’s Day of the African Child at the Broadcasting House, Ikoyi.
Mrs Owoyemi said harmful practices against children’s physical or mental state such as early child marriages, female genital mutilation, corporal punishment, child labour among others should not be encouraged.
She noted that Radio Nigeria has roles to play in partnership with agencies to educate and enlighten the public on safe best practices.
One of the participating students in a debate organised to commemorate the day said children should not be allowed to work to earn money.
The celebration which was hosted by Radio Nigeria, programmes department featured essay writing, drama, contest, musical interludes and presentation of gifts to the students.
