FRCN, BASL Align to Project Nigeria’s Aviation, Tourism Progress Globally

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Lagos and Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited have pledged deeper collaboration to strengthen aviation reporting, passenger awareness and national development.

This formed the highlight of a courtesy visit by the Director of Lagos Operations of FRCN, Princess Adenike Adegoke, to the management of Bicourtney Aviation Services Limited, BASL, manager of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two, MMA2.

Princess Adegoke described Radio Nigeria as a powerful national platform with the reach and credibility to project institutional milestones across the country and beyond.

She noted that the Lagos operations alone run three major stations, Metro FM 97.7, Radio One 103.5 and Bond FM, the latter broadcasting in indigenous languages including Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, ensuring inclusivity and cultural connection for diverse audiences.

Commending the visible infrastructure upgrades and professionalism at MMA2, she described the terminal as a shining example of private sector efficiency in airport management.

Princess Adegoke also pointed to the growing international profile of the “Detty December” travel surge, saying it has transformed Lagos into a global convergence point for diaspora and holiday travellers.

She assured the terminal’s management that Radio Nigeria would continue to amplify its achievements across its nationwide network and digital platforms, while developing targeted programmes to educate passengers on airport procedures, safety protocols and new developments.

Responding, the Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head of Aeronautical Services, MMA2, Mr. Remi Jibodu, described the engagement as a strategic partnership between two critical sectors , aviation and broadcasting, both central to economic growth and national integration.

He said the terminal was intentionally designed not just as a transit hub, but as a destination offering comfort and convenience, from its integrated car park and seamless access system to its art gallery, retail outlets and vibrant food court.

According to him, MMA2 carries a responsibility as one of the first points of contact for many visitors to reshape perceptions about Nigeria and create a positive first impression.

On safety and security, terminal officials said preparations are being intensified for 2026 with upgraded surveillance systems and stricter enforcement measures.

Head of Aviation Security, Monica Oguta, revealed that during the heavy December traffic, nearly all reported lost items were successfully recovered and returned, with suspects in theft cases tracked through surveillance and arrested in collaboration with security agencies.

She added that new system enhancements would eliminate blind spots and further strengthen monitoring capacity.

Head of Safety, Mrs. Nafisat Adeniran, stressed that operations at the terminal are guided by international standards, layered screening procedures and a robust safety management system.

She highlighted emergency readiness measures, including ambulances, modern firefighting equipment and detailed contingency plans, as well as strict controls to prevent airside hazards such as foreign object debris and bird strikes.

All airside drivers, she noted, undergo specialised training, while erring operators face sanctions or suspension to reinforce a zero-tolerance stance on safety breaches.

Both management teams expressed confidence that sustained collaboration between Radio Nigeria and MMA2 would not only promote public awareness and safer travel but also support tourism growth and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Present on the entourage of the DLO FRCN Lagos operations are Ms. Helen Ekanem, in charge of News directorate, Mrs. Ifeoma Okpala, Corporate Communications and Mrs Omoye, Airauhi, Head, Bondfm Marketing, warmly received by the Ag.
