The Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Mohammed Bulama, has described the late former Director-General of the Corporation, Dr. Christopher Kolade, as an elder statesman who epitomized integrity, excellence, discipline, and hard work.
Dr. Bulama paid the tribute during a condolence visit to the Kolade family residence in Ogudu GRA, Lagos.
He was represented by the Director of Lagos Operations, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, who, in an emotion-laden voice, recalled fond memories of Dr. Kolade as a mentor, father figure, and peace-loving leader who made immense contributions to the growth of Radio Nigeria.
The FRCN DG said the late diplomat and broadcaster would be deeply missed by the Radio Nigeria family and the nation at large.
Responding, Mrs. Beatrice Kolade, wife of the deceased, expressed gratitude to the FRCN delegation, noting that her husband lived passionately for the corporation and left behind a legacy of godliness, love, and service.
She said the family takes solace in the fact that he passed peacefully and lived a life worthy of celebration.
The FRCN delegation included Mr. Baba Istifanus, Director of Marketing; Princess Adenike Adegoke, Director of Academic Planning at the National Broadcast Academy; Mrs. Oluwakemi Idowu, Bursar; Mrs. Lateefat Ajanaku, Deputy Director, ICT; Mrs. Ifeoma Okpala, Deputy Director, Corporate Development and Communications; and Mr. Abiola Peters, General Manager, Radio One 103.5 FM.
Dr. Christopher Kolade, who served as the third Director-General of FRCN and later as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, passed away on October 8, 2025, at the age of 92.
His funeral rites are scheduled to hold from Monday, October 27, to Tuesday, October 28.
