The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has confirmed a series of road crashes that occurred between October 29 and 30, 2025, on Kara Bridge along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, resulting in several deaths, injuries, and major traffic disruptions.
According to the FRSC Lagos Sector Public Education Officer, SRC Oluwadamilola Jayeola, operatives swiftly responded to all the crashes, carrying out rescue operations, clearing obstructions, and restoring traffic flow.
Details of the Crashes:
First Crash – 8:00 p.m., October 29Two DAF trucks collided, involving seven male occupants. No casualties were recorded. The crash was attributed to speeding and loss of control, and the obstruction was quickly cleared by FRSC and police personnel.
Second Crash – 9:40 p.m., October 29 (Fatal)Two unidentified DAF trucks were involved, leaving four people dead and two injured. The victims were taken to AZ Hospital, Magboro, and the Lagos State Accident & Emergency Centre, Ojota. Joint rescue efforts were carried out by FRSC, the police, and the Lagos State Fire Service.
Third Crash – 10:15 p.m., October 29 (Fatal)A lone yellow truck crashed due to reckless overtaking and loss of control, killing one of the three male occupants. The deceased was taken to a mortuary by a Lagos State ambulance.
Fourth Crash – 5:20 a.m., October 30 (Fatal)A blue tow truck and another truck submerged in the Isheri River were involved. At least one person died and two were injured, with recovery operations ongoing.
FRSC said the crashes highlight the dangers of overspeeding, reckless overtaking, and poor night driving discipline on the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
Sector Commander Kehinde Hamzat urged all motorists, particularly truck drivers and fleet operators, to obey traffic rules, avoid night journeys, ensure vehicle roadworthiness, and drive within speed limits.
