FRSC Urges Health Care Providers to Prioritize Road Accident Victims’ Welfare

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has appealed to healthcare providers to prioritize the welfare of accident victims and maintain the highest standards of professionalism to save lives.

Condemning the repeated rejections of road crash victims by some hospitals in Abuja, Shehu Mohammed commended the management of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Jabi, Abuja, for taking decisive action against staff accused of neglecting a victim rescued from a crash scene in the Federal Capital Territory.

Emphasizing the importance of timely and adequate medical attention in reducing mortality rates, the FRSC Corps Marshal called on all healthcare providers to adopt a more proactive approach in responding to emergencies and saving the lives of crash victims.

He stated, “The National Road Traffic Regulations 2024 specifically frowns upon hospitals rejecting crash victims, with clear provisions for adequate punishment for negligence or any form of misconduct that undermines established regulations on handling crash victims.”

The FRSC head also reiterated the Commission’s commitment to collaborating with healthcare providers and other stakeholders to improve road safety and save lives.

The Corps Marshal praised the Nigerian citizen who single-handedly rescued the victim and encouraged others to emulate this spirit of patriotism by contributing to a culture of safety, discipline, and professionalism to save more lives.
