An eighty-bed general hospital donated by the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, has been inaugurated in the Surulere area of Lagos State.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who performed the inauguration, also revealed plans for a medical university in the state.

The hospital is part of legacy projects donated by Mr  Gbajabiamila, who represented Surulere federal constituency one of Lagos State at the House of Representatives for twenty years.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the hospital, named the Femi Gbajabiamila General Hospital, would ensure prompt and qualitative health care service delivery to people of Surulere.

He said the General Hospital, situated at the site of the former Iyun Primary Health Centre would serve the over sixty-six Community Development Associations in Surulere.

The donor, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, said the project was constructed based on complaints from Surulere constituents that there was no public hospital from Costain to Empire.

Mr Gbajabiamila noted that the hospital had been adequately equipped for the diagnosis and treatment of terminal diseases among others, and urged the Lagos state government to deploy quality personnel to the facility.

Earlier, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu inaugurated the state-of-the-art Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre at the Lagos State University, Ojo, saying the edifice testified to what well-meaning individuals could do to support public institutions and contribute to the public good.

The Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Femi Gbajamiala said the project was his way of contributing to the quality of education, and called on the political class to always remember the electorate and to seek to improve their lives.
