German Development Commission-Etiwa Tech empowers 30 trainees with tools.

As part of it’s efforts to increase the prospects of gainful employment for young Nigerians between 15 and 35 through skills acquisition, thirty persons have benefited from vocational training including Masonry which is block laying and Plastering and Air conditioning.
The training was put together byThe German Development Commission(GIZ) in partnership with Etiwa TECH, a non profit organization, NGO/nonprofit vocational training centre.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony held in Lagos ,the Managing Director of Etiwa Tech, Mrs Jody Adewale said it was aimed at bridging the gap in construction skills in Nigeria by training Artisans in the profession and the project, SkYE has partnered with different vocational institutions to provide the training.

She added that the whole purpose of the training was to ensure that there is gainful employment; that youths learn a skill to be able to go out and to make a living for themselves adding that soft skills were also added to the training.
She noted that for the period of the partnership, they had trained 205 trainees, half of whom were returnees from abroad.

Mrs Adewale who also commended the Graduatants urged them to make good use of the skills to contribute to the growth and development of the Construction industry.

In his remarks, the Technical Advisor for the GIZ SKYE Programme, Mr Tosin Ilawole, who expressed delight at the graduation of the trainees noted that GIZ embarked on the training programme because of its mandate to develop skills for employment.

He noted that if youths were trained with employability skills, it would help to tackle illegal migration and quest for white collar jobs.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with Radio Nigerial expressed their joy for being part of the training.
The climax of the graduation was the presentation of certificates and tools to the graduands.
A total of two hundred and five people have passed through Etiwa Tech training program.
