Global First Ladies Pledge Stronger Ties for Economic Growth, Wellbeing at New York Summit

The 3rd edition of the Global First Ladies’ Alliance Academy has concluded in New York, with First Ladies from across the world committing to deeper cooperation aimed at promoting economic development and the wellbeing of citizens.

The three-day gathering brought together 18 First Ladies, including former First Ladies, under a shared vision of leveraging their unique roles to drive change in key areas such as health, education, development, and equity.

Co-Founder of the Alliance, Nicole Field, described the Academy as a movement, not just a moment, designed to equip First Ladies with the skills, strategies, and support to deepen their impact and share both challenges and victories.

“We need to be innovative and inventive in getting resources for nations,” Field said. “We acknowledge that life is not an easy ride, but we are aware it is full of purpose and promise. Optimize it.”

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, joined her counterparts in reaffirming the importance of enhanced international partnerships to promote early childhood education, maternal health, and sustainable development.

One of the highlights of the final day was a session led by the wife of former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, focusing on early childhood development and maternal health as building blocks for future economic progress.

The Academy, now In its 16th year, continues to serve as a platform for dialogue, innovation, and action among First Ladies globally, with the ultimate goal of transformative leadership at the highest levels of influence.
