In a dramatic political realignment, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has resigned from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
The Governor announced his resignation during a State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Yenagoa on Wednesday.
In a move that signals a total collapse of the PDP’s structure in the state, the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mr. Abraham Ingobere, and 19 other members of the assembly from the PDP have also resigned from the party.
Furthermore, all members of the State Executive Council have tendered their resignations from the PDP.
The development was confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, in a post on his verified social media handle.
