Hilda Baci cooks world’s largest pot of jollof rice in new Guinness record attempt‎

‎It was a festival of food and excitement at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, as celebrity chef Hilda Baci once again made history, this time by cooking the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.

‎The record-breaking attempt attracted over 20,000 fans, celebrities, and food lovers who came to witness the landmark feat and, of course, to hope for a taste of the steaming delicacy.

‎Before the cooking began, Hilda personally washed the massive red pot herself, joking that it was “squeaky clean.” She explained that the recipe was carefully calculated to maintain the authentic taste of Nigerian jollof, saying, “We had to apply some mathematics to make sure everything turns out right.”

‎The event also featured a prayer session with Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters Church, before the rice was set on fire, in the cooking sense.

‎Notable personalities such as Veekee James, Tomike Adeoye, and Enioluwa graced the event, while Nollywood star Funke Akindele thrilled the crowd with her dance moves.

Musician Spyro also performed some of his hit songs, adding extra flavour to the atmosphere.

‎Even Guinness World Records sent words of encouragement via Instagram, wishing Hilda and her team the best of luck.

‎Hilda is no stranger to record-breaking.

In 2023, she cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes in a marathon that earned her a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking session by an individual.

‎Now, with the world’s largest pot of jollof rice under her belt, Hilda Baci has once again shown her creativity and determination, further cementing her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated chefs.
