HKT Inspects Legacy Projects In Ajeromi/Ifelodun, Lagos

There is need for successive government at all levels to utilize, maintain and complete projects in their domain for the benefit of residents rather than compete in unhealthy rivalry.

Former Deputy Speaker, Lagos House of Assembly, Mr Kolawole Taiwo, popularly called HKT, made the call during a media inspection tour of some of his legacy projects in Ajeromi Ifelodun Council Development Area, to debunk rumors making the rounds that no project was executed during his tenure.

Moving round over twenty legacy projects in different, Mr Kolawole Taiwo who was also a former member House of Representative for Ajeromi Ifelodun federal constituency, frowned at the dilapidated state of some of the projects including the water facility at Maiyegun Street off Baba Sala Street Amukoko, which he promised to renovate within the next one week.

The former federal and State lawmakers identified some of his legacy projects to include construction and equipment of ICT facility at Cardoso Senior High School, construction of blocks of classrooms at Cardoso Junior High School, Primary Health center at Tolu, blocks of classrooms at Oluwa Primary School, Ajegunle, uncompleted youths and women empowerment center at Cemetery Street.

Others are road construction at Adeolu street, Ajegunle, empowerment of 520 indigents of Ajeromi Ifelodun federal constituency, distribution of Cars and Korope mini buses, health support interventions, installation of solar light projects in different locations in Ajeromi Ifelodun and Poultry and fishery empowerment programs among other numerous projects to mention.

Mr Kolawole Taiwo attributed the rumor of not performing during his tenure as mischievous having served four terms at Lagos House of Assembly which was sixteen years and four years as House of Representative member, noting that physical evidence of his legacies cannot be erased in the sand of time.

“At least you can all see by yourself, I bought some land with my personal resources and sought help from some federal lawmakers who helped in facilitating these projects, it is sad to see some of them abandoned and in bad shape”.

“What our people fail to know is that projects handed over to them are their own, I might use the facilities for over ten years, so if you don’t keep them, you are doing yourselves and not me, it is even funny when some people called me that I did not handover properly, that is petty anyway, no document of the projects in my possession, I have handed them over at the LCDA secretariat, so it is left for successive government to continue from where we finished in the overall interest of the people we are serving”.

Addressing students at Cardoso Senior and Junior High Schools, the former lawmaker advised youths to be agents of change and protect public infrastructure in their domain, emphasizing that residents are the greatest beneficiaries of the projects.

Some of the Community leaders who welcomed Mr Kolawole Taiwo thanked him for the numerous projects he executed but however appealed to him to resuscitate some of the morbid ones which the community cannot embark upon due to financial constraints.
