Foundation Celebrates Widows in Lagos, Gives Free Health Insurance, Food Palliatives

Two hundred and fifty widows in Lagos have benefitted free one year health insurance under the Ilera Eko Health scheme, to support their emotional, mental and health challenges.

This is courtesy of a Non Governmental Organization, Human Development Initiative Foundation, HDIF.

At the empowerment programme which has one hundred and sixty of the beneficiaries to commemorate this year’s widow’s day, the Executive Director HDIF, Mrs Olufunso Owasanoye, said the initiative was to share in their grief and assist them get professional healthcare service delivery without no cost.

Mrs Owasanoye emphasized the need to raise awareness about the challenges widows experience during menopause and help in proffering solution.

She also encouraged the widows who were counselled by mental health experts, to embrace forgiveness as a step toward emotional healing and better health.

Food palliatives were distributed to support the widows in recognition of their strength and resilience.
